 Dualtron X Review

The Dualtron X is an ultra high-performance electric scooter produced by Minimotors. It pushes the boundaries of what an electric scooter can do in terms of power, speed, and range.

Performance

The Dualtron X is equipped with dual 6720W brushless DC hub motors that deliver incredible acceleration and a claimed top speed of 62 mph (100 km/h). In real-world testing, reviewers have hit speeds around 52 mph on flat ground. The acceleration from 0-15 mph is an astonishing 3.8 seconds.

The massive 84V 60Ah battery pack provides an estimated real-world range of around 50 miles, though the manufacturer claims up to 95 miles[5]. With over 2900 Wh of capacity, it has one of the largest battery packs ever fitted to an electric scooter.

Ride Quality

The Dualtron X features a hydraulic coil-over suspension system with around 2 inches of travel. This gives it an incredibly smooth and controlled ride, able to soak up bumps and potholes with ease. The ultra-wide 13x5 inch tubeless tires also contribute to the plush ride quality while providing excellent stability at high speeds.

Handling is aided by a steering damper that allows you to tighten up the steering response for stable high-speed cruising. The large deck provides ample room for your stance.

However, the ride is let down somewhat by the mediocre stock grips and the heavy 132 lb weight, which makes the Dualtron X less portable than other electric scooters.

Build Quality

The Dualtron X showcases exceptional build quality befitting its high price tag. The sturdy frame, aviation-grade aluminum alloy construction, and high-end components like hydraulic brakes with 4-piston calipers give it a robust, almost motorcycle-like feel.

Safety Features

For safety, the Dualtron X comes equipped with front and rear hydraulic disc brakes that provide powerful and progressive braking performance. It also has an array of LED lights including headlights, turn signals, and brake lights.

Downsides

The main downsides of the Dualtron X are its extreme weight at 132 lbs, lack of water resistance, and exorbitant $6000 price tag, making it more of a premium recreational vehicle than a practical commuter. Changing the tubeless tires is also quite difficult.

Verdict

The Dualtron X is an incredible feat of electric scooter engineering, offering blistering speed, tremendous range, and a supremely comfortable ride. Its performance is on par with some electric motorcycles. However, its bulk, weight, and price mean it is best suited for those with very deep pockets looking for a high-end recreational ride rather than a daily commuter vehicle. For its intended purpose as an ultra high-performance personal electric vehicle, the Dualtron X delivers in spectacular fashion.
